About me
After nearly four decades of experience with non-profits, state and federal agencies, and municipalities, I’ve worked with dozens of organizations, boards, Executive Directors, staff, grants, budgets, events, fundraisers…in all aspects of governance and execution. Sometimes the hard way, but I’ve learned the fine line between governance and execution and who is responsible for which—even when it is on the razor’s edge.
I’ve perfected a craft based both on experience and education. While my undergrad is in agricultural journalism and agricultural economics from the University of Wisconsin, my graduate degree is in public administration from the University of Washington Evans School of Public Policy and Governance. The experience comes from filling the role of Executive Director over a dozen times for mostly 501-c-6 and 501-c-3 organizations (two for over 20 years).
While I have a particular expertise in ag issues and ag policy based on the groups I’m managed, my experience with and in non-profits and agencies is my driving motivator for consulting.
